Cristo Our Refuge
For you have been my help, and in the shadow of your wings, I sing for joy. —Psalm 63:7 NRSV
At the base of Cristo, Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro, is a small chapel where pilgrims can spend time with the Lord in a quiet space. Many a person walks by without entering in, but those who take the time are not disappointed.
I was among the few who dwelt for a time deep within Cristo. As sight-seekers noisily milled about outside, the few of us kneeling within encountered Christ our Redeemer in an intimate way.
Yet while there, I realized how often it is that I, too, bypass opportunities to spend time with Our Lord.
Prayer
Lord, we make You our hiding place. Hold us deep within Your heart
Quote
There is a place of quiet rest, near to the heart of God: a place where sin cannot molest, near to the heart of God.
//Cleland Boyd McAfee (1866-1944)
Thought
What is it that causes us to pass by, thus forfeiting a chance for intimacy with Him?
